Weight Loss Tracking and Blog Part Deux

Sorry, I have had a TON of crap going on the past few weeks and haven’t had much time to post.  I will be posting more consistently again. :)  Well, as I feared, I was up a few lbs for my weigh-in this week (5.5lbs).  Unfortunately, I didn’t have the most healthy choices of food available to me the last few weeks during my traveling for work.  Although, now I will be back on track next week!


May 23rd - Traveling is done!

I’m finally done and home from all of my travels the past couple of weeks. This week it was Colorado… I had a 3 hour layover this morning, which sucked. Now I can focus on my training again. I have the 5k next weekend and it’s going to be rough. I haven’t been able to run much the past 2 weeks due to so much traveling for work.

Sorry! I have been traveling the past week, so I haven’t had time to do much….including eating healthy. Man oh man….I know I’ve put on a few pounds. I traveled to our remote offices to visit some of my employees. They are out in Vermont and New York. I had very little healthy food choices with all of the flying I’ve done. This week I leave Wednesday for Colorado, but I’ll be back on Friday. I’ve had zero time to work out, which wasn’t too bad so I could rest my back. It’s still sore. I remember doing this a few years ago and it was my Sacroiliac Joint or SI joint. I can tell it’s the same thing. So, I’ve just been putting a heating pad on it in the evenings, which seems to be helping a ton. I’m going to go for a run tonight and see how it is.

Next week I will be back on track with all of my traveling out of the way for awhile! :)

Well… so much for my run today. I was putting highway bars on my motorcycle and ended up tweaking my back… BAD. So, now I’m incapacitated on the couch for the rest of the weekend. Awesome.

Although, I did end up getting them put on the bike and they look sweet! :)

So, weigh-in was this morning and I had a net gain/loss of zero. I weighed the same as I did last week. The only difference is that I feel drained and run down. So, my guess is that I’m actually not eating enough now based on frequency, duration, and difficulty of my workouts. According to a metabolic calculator that I used (it’s a link on this page) I’m supposed to eat no more than 4427 calories per day to maintain my weight. This also takes into consideration the difficulty of my workouts, which I use the highest selection. So, I’m getting about 2400 calories a day and burning anywhere from 500-1100 calories a day. This is during my workouts alone so my body isn’t getting enough energy and it’s going into starvation mode. This means that my body is fighting me to hold onto excess fat because it’s not getting enough food. So, I will do some tweaking to my diet over the next few weeks to see what happens.

It’s certainly becoming more and more difficult to shed the pounds.  I feel great and people are commenting on my weight loss, which is also great!  Although, I still have about 30lbs to go and I can tell this isn’t going to be easy unless I can figure out my correct caloric needs per day.
